The Value of Coaching

I have been noticing that leaders who typically use coaching have withdrawn during the pandemic, when that coaching could be a valuable resource to keep them focused and moving forward.

No sooner did I have that thought, it struck me that I needed to heed my own advice.

I offered to be the "coachee" during a recent call with my friends Sarah and Yamila, who are both coaches. This coaching triangle has been an important connection for me, both personally and professionally, to stay informed, to continue learning and to maintain relationships.

My own coaching experience is always illuminating. Like shining a bright light on what I needed.

The best part for me is having someone else reflect back to me what they noticed about my energy fluctuations in discussing certain topics, what might be different now from what they knew about my patterns of behaviour, rephrasing what they hear for me and providing a shared experience that spoke to me in a way I could hear it.

I needed that.
