Learning to Live with my Anxiety
In between these two extremes of “don’t feed’ and “don’t avoid”, I needed to find the happy medium in between. But where is that happy medium in between?

A Personal Grief Care Package
When my aunt Marj sprouted wings and flew to heaven, I wanted to send some comfort to my uncle Roy. Here is what I sent.

How will you look?
Do you care about how you look? I think you should. As a leader, you are always in focus by others. It would be nice if they didn’t have to focus on a stain on your shirt, wrinkled pants or the hole in your shoes. It would be better if they focused on what more could be done to move the organization further ahead.

How do you smell?
I want to focus on how you smell. You might be wondering why, right?

How will you work with others?
What are the steps necessary you need to take to ensure you can work well with your team?

The Insiders: Chapter 1
It was a typical day of late inside the system. “Tis the season!” was heard throughout as some insiders were fighting a small alien which was causing system fatigue and the “sniffles”. But it was about to get much worse.

Tell me about your pain points
I want to know where it hurts — at work!

What kind of leader are you?
How would you describe your leadership style? There are many different leadership styles you can search online for. At the end of the day, each one of us has our own leadership style which is unique. It is unique because of, at minimum, our own experiences, our own worldview, our education, our temperament, and our level of awareness. What if you don’t know what your leadership style is?

Where to find well-being

Your Personal Support Team

Concussion Management
Have you ever had a concussion?

Missing the Trees for the Forest
I had a number of new experiences over the weekend of August 7, 2022 which I hope to never have again. Some tell me it was a rite of passage. Others tell me they feel my pain. But there is something for leaders to think about in all of this.

Challenging the Typical
As I continued to recover from my MTB crash, I kept having new experiences which provided insights into what is not typical for me, but might be typical for others. I found a leadership lesson here as well which I will share.

Empathy Up Close
As I lived through a number of new experiences where my mobility was hampered, the pain I felt, dealing with different health practitioners, an ambulance ride and an overnight stay in an emergency department, it made me think about what pure empathy is.

The Beauty of Kaizen
During my concussion recovery, different health providers recommended various supplements. I blindly started a couple of new ones all at once….forgetting how sensitive my body is to foreign entries (Maybe I can blame my concussion for that!). I also reduced the amount of one and stopped taking another.

My Crazy, Caring Brain
The complexity and care of my brain continues to amaze and astound me.

The Quickest Way To Lose Trust
The quickest way to have others lose trust in you is to break your promises and not follow through on commitments.

How Transparent Are You?
While an organization may not have enough trust to be fully transparent, you can gain trust by being more transparent about the things that matter.

Who's the most important person in the room?
By moving from me being the most important person in the room to making him the most important person in the room, I was able to leave my ego at the door.

I Don't Know Everything
I want to share a technique that I learned along the way which works like a charm to get through tough situations.
